The increasing digitalization fundamentally changes the business world and requires a new leadership approach. The course “Digital Leadership” will give participants a totally fresh perspective on how we can successfully lead people through digital change processes. Firstly, this interactive course will shed light on how people naturally react to change and what they essentially need from leaders to cultivate the right mindset and skills to accept and deal with digital change. Secondly, participants will receive insight into the unique human skills that set us apart from artificial intelligence. They will learn how to profoundly improve these human skills for themselves and promote them in their teams. This is a highly interactive class where ‘learning by doing’ plays a central role.

This course is offered in the part-time Master of Digital Transformation Management MBA program and may be attended on a “no credit” basis by individuals not enrolled in the program. Course participants are visitors who are not responsible for assignments and do not take an exam or earn academic credits. As the number of seats in the course is limited, we recommend to register online early.


Upon completion of this course, you will:

Have a profound understanding of the natural effects of digital change on humans along with the resulting leadership challenges
Have an insight into how humans bring a cognitive high performance and how this process is affected by different aspects of the digitalization

Dr. Karolien Notebaert

Dr. Karolien Notebaert holds a doctorate in Neuroscience and has been supporting managers and organizations in applying the newest insights from this scientific field to their business contexts for more than 15 years. She reveals the brain reaches a healthy peak performance and how we can flexibly apply our full potential in a constantly changing business world. Karolien Notebaert holds a Masters Degree in Economics, is Founder of the consulting company Notebaert Consulting, and is the author of the best-selling book ‘Wie das Gehirn Spitzenleistung bringt’ (‘How the brain creates peak performance’).

Using her ‘Hack Your Brain’ approach, Karolien is a valued TEDxTalk and GEDANKENtanken speaker and has received the ‘Excellence in Teaching’ award from GBS multiple times. Her newest book 'The pilgrim who trained her monkey' will be published July 2022 by Random House.

Certificate of participation

A GBS certificate of participation is awarded upon completion of the course.

Course Fee*

€ 1.900 (fee is exempt from VAT). The fee for GBS students or alumni amounts to € 800.

*Withdrawal and fee refund
In case the course withdrawal request is received two weeks prior to the start of classes, GBS will retain a withdrawal fee of €50. In case the course withdrawal request is received less than two weeks prior to the start of classes, GBS will retain 50% of the payment made.
