ADMISSIONS

Your Qualifications

Candidates with an undergraduate degree (that is, a Bachelor's or equivalent) in business or economics or another quantitatively oriented degree program involving at least 180 credit points (CP) based on the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) are eligible for admission.

If the final Bachelor's degree certificate is not yet available when applying for the M.Sc. in Global Finance and Economics program, a candidate's application can alternatively be assessed based on proof of enrollment and an interim certificate. This interim certificate must

  • certify that at least 80% of the CP required for graduation with the Bachelor’s degree have been earned,
  • contain a current average grade (GPA) calculated based on the completed CP following the regulations of the degree program in question and
  • have been issued by the same office responsible for issuing the degree certificate at the university offering the Bachelor’s degree program in question.

As long as the overall grade for the Bachelor’s degree is not submitted before the conclusion of the admissions process, the admissions decision will be based on the current grade point average specified in the interim certificate. An admission based on the interim certificate is provisional and conditional on the examination certificate for the Bachelor’s degree submitted by the end of the first semester of studies in the M.Sc. in Global Finance and Economics program. If the examination certificate is not submitted by this deadline, admission is withdrawn, and enrollment will be rescinded.

In case of doubt, applicants are encouraged to contact the program’s Academic Coordinator, Dr. Le Van Ha, at ha.lv@vgu.edu.vn for further advice on interim certificates.

Applicants must submit proof of English language proficiency at the B2 level following the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The program will accept the results of the following tests taken no longer than four years before the date of submission:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS), minimum score of 5.5
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) iBT® and TOEFL iBT® Home Edition, a minimum score of 46 to 59
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, minimum score of 160 to 165
  • English Language Level Test (ELLT) – Oxford International Digital Institute

Applicants may apply for a waiver from submitting one of the above proofs of proficiency in English in case one of the following conditions applies:

  • The applicant is a native speaker of English;
  • The applicant has completed undergraduate or master-level studies in a degree program taught entirely in English;
  • The applicant has worked in an English-speaking country in a position involving professional English for at least one year.

In case of doubt, applicants are encouraged to contact the program’s Academic Coordinator, Dr. Le Van Ha, at ha.lv@vgu.edu.vn for further advice on demonstrating English proficiency.

Quantitative proficiency will be assessed based on the Quantitative Reasoning Score of the GRE General Test or the Quantitative Score of the GMAT. In either case, the test must have been taken no more than four years before submission.

The program’s admissions committee may also accept alternative proofs of adequate mathematical/quantitative skills (such as a qualified university degree in mathematics or successful completion of an entrance examination held at VGU).

In case of doubt, applicants are encouraged to contact the program’s Academic Coordinator, Dr. Le Van Ha, at ha.lv@vgu.edu.vn for further advice on demonstrating quantitative proficiency.
