With the arrival of our new students, the 14th cohort of the Master in Finance has now started its journey at Goethe Business School (GBS). Orientation Day on Thursday, April 9, marked the beginning of this new chapter, bringing everyone together on Campus Westend for a day of first encounters, shared conversations, and insights into what lies ahead.
Dr. Anja Weigt, Director GBS Master Programs, welcomed the cohort and spoke about the value of being part of a strong and supportive community:
“By joining GBS, you become part of this community. You will learn from your professors, from guest speakers, and – perhaps most importantly – from each other. The connections you build here will stay with you long after graduation, both professionally and personally.”
Nina Pogoda, who joined the program last year, then shared her perspective as a current student. Speaking openly about balancing a demanding career with academic commitments, she highlighted what makes the program special: the close-knit learning environment, the diverse professional backgrounds within the cohorts, and the collaboration with the Frankfurt Institute for Risk Management and Regulation (FIRM). Her message to the new students was both simple and sincere: stay curious, engage actively, and embrace the experiences ahead.
Following personal introductions within the group, the cohort received a comprehensive overview of the program structure. The afternoon created space for collaboration and connection. Guided by Dr. Karolien Notebaert, the students participated in interactive team-building sessions that encouraged open communication. Through shared challenges and reflection, initial conversations turned into meaningful connections, before the day was rounded off with a scavenger hunt across Campus Westend.
We are very pleased to welcome this new cohort to GBS and look forward to accompanying them as they grow academically, professionally, and personally in the months ahead.
