This course covers the basic and future-oriented concepts of digitalisation in industrie, economy and society. The potenticals and limits as well as the induced challenges of digital trends especially for the industry will be discussed using scientific and practical analytical framework and methods including case studies.

Upon completion of this course, you will:

Key Concepts

Digital technologies as a key driver of digital transformation (Internet of Things, sensor networks, advanced analytics, augmented reality etc.)

New value creation models in the company and in cross-company networks (architectural models, data sharing, smart connected products, service-orientation, workplace of the future, value levers in Industry 4.0 etc.)

Boundary conditions and limits of digitization (international perspective on German industry and competitiveness, risk management, data security and privacy, ethics etc.)

Course Format

This course is offered in the part-time Master of Digital Transformation Management MBA program and may be attended on a “no credit” basis by individuals not enrolled in the program.

Course participants are visitors who are not responsible for assignments and do not take an exam or earn academic credits. As the number of seats in the course is limited, we recommend to register online early.

Faculty

Prof. Dr. Henner Gimpel

Prof. Dr. Henner Gimpel holds the Chair of Digital Management and is Vice Dean for Research and Knowledge Transfer of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hohenheim. He is a member of the Fraunhofer FIT, the Research Center FIM, and the University of Augsburg. He has a doctorate in information systems and conducts research at the interface between information systems, management, behavioral economics, and psychology. The focus of his work is on the analysis and design of digitalization. It deals with socio-technical information systems in which people, information and digital technologies interact with each other. Henner is a long-standing lecturer in the Digital Transformation MBA of GBS on the topic of Smart Industries.

Course Fee

€ 1,900 (fee is exempt from VAT). The fee for GBS students or alumni amounts to € 800.
