Master in Finance

INNOVATION FOR THE FUTURE OF THE FINANCE SECTOR

Ranked #1 in Germany

Since 2013, our well-established part-time Master in Finance enables ambitious finance professionals to deepen their expertise alongside their careers in an international university environment. With two specialization options – Financial Technology Management or Risk Management & Regulation – the program is designed to address the special requirements of the market and the high demand for young talents in these fields. The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute recognizes the Master in Finance as a CFA Program Partner. This recognition signals that Master in Finance students take part in a study program which connects academics to professional practice and that the program is well suited to preparing students to take the CFA exams.

The programs’ job-compatible format is designed to keep studies, work and leisure in balance over the entire study period of four semesters. The Master in Finance is conducted in English and begins annually in April. Graduates receive a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Finance degree (90 ECTS CP) plus a certificate of specialization from the AACSB-accredited Faculty of Economics and Business at Goethe University Frankfurt.

For the Master in Finance program starting in April 2024, we welcome applications via our online application portal from August 1, 2023 onwards. Applications can be submitted until the final application deadline of January 22, 2024.

Program Overview

What makes our Master in Finance program unique?

With a finance-focused location in the House of Finance on Campus Westend at the heart of the European financial center Frankfurt, we have established strong ties to an international community of financial experts. In addition to the lectures held by renowned faculty members of Goethe University and other affiliated institutions, we offer regular guest lectures from prominent financial experts and an opportunity to expand your network among influential leaders, practitioners and academics.

Part of the GBS teaching philosophy is to ensure a perfect balance between theory and practice with an innovative approach to business education. Through small class sizes, instructors from both academia and industry, and building on the professional experiences students bring along, courses at GBS foster an active, student-centered learning atmosphere. The job-compatible format of the program allows you to keep your studies, work and leisure in balance.

Graduates receive a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Finance degree (90 ECTS CP) plus a certificate of specialization from the AACSB-accredited Faculty of Economics and Business at Goethe University Frankfurt. It is also possible to earn Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualifications during your studies through our CFA Program Partnership. Our Master in Finance program was initially accredited by the German association Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA) and has been successfully re-accredited within the framework and procedures of Goethe University's System Accreditation by the Accreditation, Certification and Quality Assurance Institute (ACQUIN).

GBS part-time students are enrolled students of Goethe University and enjoy all regular student benefits, such as access to libraries, reduced entrance fees to museums and a RMV semester ticket. Campus Westend is "Germany's most beautiful campus" and offers highly attractive and modern study conditions with a cutting-edge learning infrastructure, multiple student cafeterias (Mensa), bistros and coffee bars.
