Before being appointed as full-chaired professor at Goethe University in 2002, Prof. Walz held a chair at the Universities of Bochum and Tübingen and was visiting research fellow at London School of Economics and the University of California, Berkeley. Currently, Prof. Walz is director of the research Program “Corporate Finance & Financial Markets” at the Center for Financial Studies (CFS) and member of the Executive Board of Goethe University´s Research Center “Sustainable Architecture of Finance in Europe” (SAFE).
His current research interest concentrates on private equity, entrepreneurial finance and contract theory as well as on the industrial organization of financial markets. Prof. Walz has published in renowned international journals such as Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of International Economics, European Economic Review and Journal of Public Economics.
In his role as member of the Board, Prof. Walz was responsible for the development of Goethe Business School. Today he is Academic Director of the Part-time Master in Finance and the Competence Cluster Financial Management.
