Prof. Dr. Mark Wahrenburg is a tenured full professor of Banking and Finance at Goethe University. Prior academic positions include a guest professorship at the Wharton School (University of Philadelphia), a one year appointment to support the establishment of the Vietnamese German University in Ho Chi Minh City (VGU) and a professorship at the University of Witten/Herdecke. He is a recognized expert in the field of financial risk management and has consulted many banks, regulatory authorities, and courts on risk related issues. He draws on ample experiences from serving as a member of the regulatory board of the German Stock Exchange, as a supervisory board member for a private corporation, and being a director for the e-finance lab at Frankfurt Goethe University. His research has been published in recognized journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, European Financial Management, and Journal of Financial Services Research. Prof. Wahrenburg studied business administration and received a PhD from the University of Cologne.


At GBS Prof. Wahrenburg is jointly with Prof. Hackethal Academic Director for the Competence Cluster Bank Management.
