Your Pharma MBA Experience at GBS!

You're invited to our upcoming Virtual Pharma MBA Experience on May 19 at 6.00pm!

Choosing a suitable MBA program is not an easy task. However, we think a sneak peek into a lecture held by GBS Faculty Team for the Pharmaceutical Value Chain course, Dr. Martin Weiser, Dr. Ursula Schickel and Dr. Ralf Mayr-Stein, may make this decision a whole lot easier. The lecture will be followed by a student and alumni panel about their personal experience before and during the program as well as the impact on their careers.

Dr. phil. nat. Martin Weiser is Managing Director of SCC Scientific Consulting Company GmbH, Bad Kreuznach. Dr. Weiser looks back to more than 20 years of experience in leading positions in the pharmaceutical industry. He worked for global players such as Sanofi and Boehringer Ingelheim as well as for the largest German pharmaceutical manufacturer association.

Dr. Ursula Schickel is Senior Director, Head of Global Regulatory Submission and Procedure Services at PharmaLex GmbH.
Dr. Schickel provides an introduction into Regulatory Affairs, Quality Management and Pharmacovigilance.

Dr. Ralf Mayr-Stein is Head of Health Policy & Market Access at Mylan, a company of Viatris Inc. . He studied chemistry at Goethe University Frankfurt with a minor in pharmacology. Dr. Mayr-Stein provides an introduction into Market Access.

About "Pharmaceutical Value Chain"

Pharma companies have different strategies, some rely a numerous contracts with a limited supplier basis, others – mainly focusing on prices - rely more on an “opportunistic” purchasing behaviour. These are two different approaches that either focus on cost or supply security, quality, and reliability factors. In general, there is always a balance and to which extreme a company tends to or if they are able finding a good compromise.

The Pharmaceutical Value Chain course mirrors the development and life cycle of a medicinal product and, in doing so, structures a complex and highly regulated process, which is comparable for all medicines. Knowledge about the Pharmaceutical Value Chain is essential for understanding the complex interaction and sequencing of various processes in the areas of Research and Development, Production and Quality Control, marketing authorization approval and safety, as well as access to the market and reimbursement.
The course will provide students with an overview about Research & Development, Manufacturing & Control, Regulatory Affairs and Pharmacovigilance and Market Access, Marketing & Sales which can be explored in depth in the Elective Courses in semester 3.
