D.QUARKS INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIST

This program is designed for (future) IT leaders that aim to create the technological foundations and a new agile IT for the rapid implementation and operations of digital business models. In the digital world, IT or the CIO function must reposition itself, take on new roles and build up new skills. As a classic infrastructure supplier, it will increasingly develop into the role of innovator and business enabler. This must be planned and iteratively implemented with agile methods. The new role of IT also requires new technical structures. In particular, the constantly increasing speed of change in business can only be supported technically by agile, adaptive architectures. The constantly increasing speed of change has not only technical, but also process-related and organisational implications for IT. User centricity and agility are particularly important.

A program taught by expert practitioners and based on the award winning best practice digital transformation framework of d.quarks, this program is ideal for anyone looking to make real digital change! It is offered in two formats: In-person intensive course over 2 weeks, or as an online, workplace-compatible format in 4 months.

Overview

Topics covered are the design and implementation of digital and agile IT operating models. Best practice approaches for designing and implementing the new role of IT as innovator and business enabler. We dive into methods of derivation of IT architectures from digital business models using modern and disruptive technologies. Introduction and sustainable scalable implementation of agile methods in IT transformation and management of new skill requirements and cultural change in IT.

The learning format of the course is very interactive and is a mix of impulse lectures with practical examples to impart knowledge, group discussion, work in smaller groups and work on practical case studies. The focus is on a balanced ratio of knowledge transfer and consolidation through practical application and mutual exchange. By applying the contents in a real project situation, the transfer of the acquired knowledge to one's own practical work is achieved.

The program is completed with a certificate from Goethe Business School. To achieve the certificate, an examination is taken in the form of a project report. The training takes place over three modules combined with project work and is available in two formats.

In-person intensive course: In the form of a Summer Bootcamp, the course is completed in-person on Campus Westend in a timeframe of two weeks. Another day for the final colloquium is planned for approx. 4 weeks later.

Online, workplace-compatible course: The same training offered online and over a time of approx. 4 months. Course weekends our spread out and no on-campus presence is required, allowing you the space and time to complete the course around the demands of your job.

Online Preparation

The online foundational training requires approx. half a day of self study and introduces some literature that is recommended to be read accompanying the program.

2 days seminar.

We look at how digitalization and in particular digital business models are changing the demands on IT, what new possible roles and competencies are emerging for the IT department as a result and what new capabilities need to be built. We develop an understanding of the organizational impact on IT and the collaborative integration with other units in the company and teach the participants how to derive a concrete, new digital operating model for their IT department, identify the need for change and plan and execute the implementation.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding the future requirements for IT professionals and the IT organization
  • Learning and applying models and methods for the design and implementation of a new digital operating model
  • Ability to define and implement an agile change plan

2 days seminar.

We look at the effects of digitalization on IT architectures and the corresponding need for change. The participants learn how architectures can be derived from changed and new digital business models and which methods, design principles and reference models are available. The focus is on concrete application through practical exercises. We provide an overview of innovative technologies and enable the participants to place them in the architectural context with regard to their influence on digital business models.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding the (new) requirements for IT architectures
  • Learning of reference models and methods for deriving architectures from changed business models
  • Ability to define and implement an agile implementation plan

2 days seminar.

We look at the need for change in the IT process landscape driven by digitalization. The participants will learn agile and user-centered methods including the meaningful areas of application and apply them practically. A special focus is placed on the scaling of these methods in the IT organization and the cultural implications.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding the new requirements of the IT process landscape
  • Learning and applying agile and user-centered methods
  • Understanding cultural challenges and how to meet them
  • Ability to plan and implement agile methods

Project duration approx. 2 months.

The learning content is applied over a longer period of time in a previously determined project context that is executed in the practical environment of the student’s own organization. A short project report (5 pages) is prepared and submitted. The project report is evaluated and is part of the certification process. Students are able to recieve 2 hours of remote coaching during their project work.

One day seminar.

In a colloquium, the project reports will be presented by the authors (students) themselves and discussed in the group and experiences will be exchanged. The mutual exchange of practical learning experience will further deepen what has been learned. At the end of the colloquium the certificate will be awarded.
