Tongji University, Sino-German School for Postgraduate Studies (CDHK)
Tongji University in Shanghai is one of the most prestigious universities in the People's Republic of China. Its beginnings date back to 1907, when the physician Erich Paulun founded a German medical school which later became Tongji University. Nowadays, the school is supervised directly by the Chinese Ministry of Education and is one of 33 key universities that are slated to become world-renowned universities as part of the government excellence program "985”.
The Sino-German School for Postgraduate Studies (CDHK) was established over ten years ago as a joint venture of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Tongji University. It is the most successful academic exchange partnership between the two countries. The CDHK acts as a double bridge: it connects China and Germany as well as academia and industry, theory and practice.
The CDHK offers bilingual double master degrees in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, economics and business law. Well-known German professors and guest lectures by business leaders complement the teaching of Chinese professors, who all hold Germany university degrees. The CDHK has numerous endowed chairs from internationally renowned companies. The close cooperation with these companies allows for a practical approach to university education and opens up possibilities for research projects, internships and jobs.
