Message from the Deans

Dear Alumni, Friends, and Partners of GBS,The Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Goethe University Frankfurt, one of the largest economics research and teaching institutions in Germany, is currently undertaking a strategic refocus of the Faculty’s academic education.
In the upcoming months, the complete program portfolio of Goethe University’s Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (Bachelor, MSc, PhD, and MBA programs) will be subject to revision.
The aim of the strategic process is to further strengthen the key educational portfolio of the Faculty as part of its goal to continue to claim a top position among the premier academic institutions in economics and business administration in Europe.
In line with the strategic refocus, Goethe Business School, as part of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, will not be able to accept any applications made for the Goethe Full-Time MBA program in 2012 until the completion of the Faculty’s strategic planning process.
This decision reflects a first result of the ongoing discussion process. This process has shown, that the long term success of the Faculty’s portfolio in (post) graduate education can only be guaranteed if this portfolio is thoroughly balanced and supported by the entire Faculty.
This does not contradict the pursuit of a classical business school approach. It rather implies that the strengths of the Frankfurt Faculty in the areas of banking & finance will be concentrated for the benefit of existing and future degree programs. Furthermore, the network of institutions within the House of Finance academic community will be used to identify synergies and other partnership potentials.
Kind regards,
Andreas Hackethal
(Dean Faculty of Economics and Business Administration)
