Does the Goethe Executive MBA focus on any particular specialty or is it a general management MBA?The Goethe EMBA is designed as a general management program. However, with the large number of electives, participants can easily design their own area of concentration in the fields of Marketing, Finance or Strategic Leadership.
How many core courses are part of the program, and how many electives?
The Goethe EMBA consists of 18 courses. Nine core courses are taught over the first nine months of the program. Afterwards, students enroll in nine electives that can be chosen from over 30 different courses. Goethe EMBA students enroll in four electives together with peers from the Duke Cross Continent EMBA program.
How many class days are there?
The Goethe EMBA combines in-class instruction, so-called residencies, with distance learning. There are a total of about 80 residency class days.
Who teaches in the program?
Professors from Duke, Goethe and a number of other top Business Schools.
Is the program delivered entirely in English?
Yes, the Goethe EMBA is delivered in English and applicants must prove their English skills, for example through the TOEFL.
Where do the Frankfurt residencies take place?
The Frankfurt residencies take place in the brand new House of Finance on Goethe University’s Campus Westend. With its modern lectures halls, team rooms, information center, and lounges, the House of Finance offers state-of-the-art teaching and learning facilities, embedded in a first class interdisciplinary research environment, stretching from finance and monetary economics to corporate and financial law.
How many international residencies are part of the program?
Students participate in three international residencies throughout this program. They enroll in two core courses each in China and in India and in four elective courses at Duke University in the USA.
When does the program start?
Classes start every year in September.
What is the minimum required work experience?
The minimum is four years of post university work experience, with an expected class average of seven to eight years.
Are scholarships or financial support available?
GBS will grant scholarships to highly qualified participants with financial needs. Participants can also apply for student loans at favorable rates.
What exactly does “Duke MBA certificate” mean?
It certifies that students have taken classes at Duke and participated in an MBA program offered in alliance with Duke. The certificate includes the following Duke privileges for Goethe EMBA graduates: a) access to and listing in the Fuqua School of Business alumni directory, b) invitations to Fuqua School of Business alumni clubs and activities, including exclusive Duke events and reunions worldwide, c) access to Fuqua’s research, writings, and publications, including Exchange magazine, d) access to the Fuqua’s Ford Library online research databases, e) a thirty percent discount on Duke’s Executive Education programs, f) a life-time Duke email address.
Does the program also offer career services?
With the launch of its full-time MBA program, Goethe Business School will establish career services that entertain close relationships to most large corporations from the region. Executive MBA students can also use these services.
Does the program have an accreditation?
Both Goethe Business School and the Fuqua School of Business are accredited by AACSB.
