Hans-Joachim Böcking in europäischen Ausschuss berufen

Hans-Joachim Böcking, Professor für Betriebswirtschaftslehre, insbesondere Wirtschaftsprüfung und Corporate Governance wurde auf Vorschlag der Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht (BaFin) in die Consultative Working Group des CESR Corporate Reporting Standing Committee berufen.

Broaden Your Horizon at Goethe Business School

Do companies have implied social contracts with the states and societies in which they operate? How would we define universal values that can be applied when working in a global context? Prof. Patrick O’Sullivan from the Grenoble Ecole de Management gave a talk on Business Ethics at Goethe Business School on Dec 3 and engaged the audience in a lively discussion about different levels he perceives in the discourse about ethical behavior in the business world.
The talk was part of the Broaden Your Horizon series in which Goethe Business School offers its students, alumni and friends the opportunity to learn about a wide variety of topics, also beyond the areas of business and finance. Speakers range from researchers to policy-makers, practitioners and thought leaders.
The next Broaden Your Horizon talk will take place on January 13, 2011. All students and alumni are invited to attend when Manfred Engelhard from M+W Germany shares his insights about Solar Power.

Professor of the Year 2010: Andreas Hackethal

Andreas Hackethal, Dean of Goethe Business School in Frankfurt, is Germany’s “Professor of the Year 2010”. This prize is awarded annually by Germany’s student magazine, UNICUM, to a professor who excels in assisting students achieve their career goals.“The award comes as a nice surprise to me”, says Hackethal. “It demonstrates that dedication to students and their ambitions is well received and bears fruit.” He also sees the award as a confirmation of the excellent team work among Goethe faculty and takes it as an incentive to further enhance career supporting activities.
The president of Goethe University, Werner Müller-Esterl, congratulates Hackethal: “In a whole series of teaching awards that our researchers won recently, the title “Professor of the Year” is of particular significance. I am happy that Goethe University is now known for both excellent research and brilliant teaching.”

Die Konferenz ist der Start einer Ausbildungsinitiative der Deutschen Bundesbank und der Maleki Group in Zusammenarbeit mit der EBS Business School, the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management und the Goethe Business School. Im Juli 2011 wird im Rahmen der Initiative ein einwöchiges Seminar im Ausbildungszentrum der Deutschen Bundesbank in Eltville abgehalten werden.

On Friday evening, a cheerful crowd gathered at a popular Italian restaurant in downtown Frankfurt for dinner, drinks, and good company. Stories ranged from the latest updates in everybody’s personal and professional lives to sharing memories from the times as active GBS degree students. For this year’s graduates it was a rather new sensation to get together with people from the GBS network socially now and without having the next team assignment or upcoming pre-reading in the back of their minds. Let’s just say they liked it.

Die Goethe Business School, eine auf Managementweiterbildung spezialisierte Einheit der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main, ist ab sofort offizieller Partner des Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institutes. Der CFA-Abschluss gilt als international wichtigste Zusatzqualifikation für Investmentmanager und Finanzanalysten.
Start des zweiten Jahrgangs des Vollzeit-MBA-Studiengangs an der Goethe Business School. Absolventen finanzieren Stipendien.

Der zweite Jahrgang des Vollzeit-MBA Studienprogramm der Goethe Business School ist gestartet. Wie schon beim ersten Jahrgang dieses Weiterbildungsprogramms für Führungskräfte, die bereits einen ersten akademischen Abschluss haben, ist die Zusammensetzung sehr international. Die Teilnehmer kommen unter anderem aus China, Frankreich, Indien, Mexiko und den USA. Etwa ein Drittel der Teilnehmer kommt aus Deutschland. Alle MBA-Studierenden haben bereits mindestens zwei Jahre Berufserfahrung, die sie in so unterschiedlichen Branchen wie Informationstechnologie, Investmentbanking, Pharmazie und Unternehmensberatung erworben haben. Der jüngste Teilnehmer am Programm ist 24 Jahre alt, der älteste 42. Ein Drittel der Teilnehmer ist weiblich.
