Health Insurance
All students are required to have health insurance in accordance to German law (§5 Section 9 SGB) before they can be matriculated at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.Nationals from EU member states and the contracting states to the European Economic Area (EEA) are covered in Germany by arrangements of the EEA. However, students from the EU and EEA area must obtain the European Health Insurance Card prior to traveling to Germany.
All other students are required to acquire German health insurance for the duration of their studies. This applies regardless of any health insurance coverage the students may hold in their home country. The costs for students under 30 years of age are currently about €60 per month.
